td physical therapy cupping services
• A common practice in traditional Chinese medicine involving the use of negative pressure to create a suctioning effect on the surface of the skin. Cups are typically left on the skin for 5-20 minutes, creating a circular-shaped ecchymosis (bruise), which may last days or weeks.
• It is unknown the mechanism by which it may have value therapeutically. The suction creates tension on the skin and underlying tissue thought to cause dilation and rupture of superficial capillaries, creating red-colored circles

• It may reduce discomfort and decrease pain thresholds temporarily
